Cough it up
The price of your freedom is the fruit of your labor. Paying taxes is your duty and your privilege. Be a good, patriotic American. Cough it up.

Obama beats Bush!

Congratulations Obama. You are an even bigger thief than Bush. Besting him in this area was no easy task. Now, if only you can get the Iran and/or Syria wars started, you will be the bigger warmonger too!

Security theater
Yet another fine performance in security theater by the TSA.
(But, to be fair, the TSA is not the only 3-letter government bureaucracy delivering wonderful performances in robbing liberty to create a false sense of security.)

IRAN 2012
Following the understandable outrage at Joseph Kony over the course of the past week, I wanted to highlight something that is equally evil, has an even greater potential human toll, and is more preventable. I don't have a video to post, so I'll explain, and I'll try to be brief:
Our government is ramping up for a war against Iran, just as it did with Iraq ten years ago. It is doing this despite the fact that Iran is not a threat to our security and that they are completely contained with 45 U.S. military bases surrounding them.
There is nothing new about this type of needless war; Iraq was not a threat, nor was Afghanistan, nor was Libya, etc. But Iran is vastly bigger than any of these previous military adventures. The consequences would be astronomical.
A war with Iran would:
- kill thousands of American soldiers and leave tens of thousands wounded and scarred for life
- slaughter hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians and displace millions more
- further erode precious liberty at home
- destroy hundreds of billions and even trillions of dollars in wealth and property, and trillions more in opportunity cost
- further cripple our economy with even higher soaring energy prices
- further destabilize the region and the world
- create countless new enemies
- make us far less safe
It is good for us to be concerned about human suffering around the world at the hands of evil men like Kony, but it is imperative for us to be concerned about human suffering around the world and at home caused by our very own government.
We must not let our government do this. We have one chance in the coming presidential election to prevent it.

War is hell.
I'm sick of living in a state of perpetual war.
How about our government obeys the Constitution. How about our government follows the Golden Rule. How about our government stops waging undeclared and unnecessary wars that have nothing to do with our defense, and which end up killing our soldiers and innocent civilians and creating countless more enemies.
How about we stop electing people who are so eager to spill blood and spend treasure so carelessly.
War is hell. How about we elect the anti-hell candidate.
